The Young Professionals Program (YPP) is a three year leadership opportunity for the development of Bank’s future leaders. We attract highly qualified and motivated professionals from our member countries for a productive and rewarding career path in development. Through the YPP, the Bank ensures continuity and excellence in both the management of its work programs and the provision of policy advice to its regional member countries. 

Features of the Program

The Young Professionals Program offers you a platform to build an exceptional and fulfilling career in the Bank. This development program spans 36 months and is structured under the Young Professionals Learning Academy.

It is delivered in batches of 6 months each, to deepen knowledge and build technical and leadership skills necessary for future roles.

The learning will immerse you into different functional areas of the Bank where you will have hands-on experience in projects and various work assignments. Partnerships with experts from recognized institutions support us to deliver training such as leadership development.

We target that majority of your learning and development is experiential as you continue to be supported by coaches, mentors and colleagues. 

Eligibility Requirements

To join, you should:

  • Be a citizen of a member country of the Bank.
  • Be 32 years of age or younger by 1st May 2020.
  • Possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in any discipline that is relevant to the business of the Bank, with outstanding academic credentials.
  • Have at least 3 years work experience in the areas related to the high priority areas (Hi-5s).
  • Interested candidates with coding, e-development, animation and platforms designs and maintenance are required this year.
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience on the African continent and/or in other continent’s developing countries is a necessary requirement.
  • Have passion for Africa’s Development
  • Able to leverage knowledge, share and coach others. Work effectively in teams with displayed high adaptability to a diverse environment.
  • Strong analytical skills, an entrepreneurial drive, results- orientation and problem-solving capability.
  • High business acumen and innovative mindset.
  • Be proficient in the Bank’s working languages, either English and/or French.
  • Have skills that enable you work in a digital environment and embrace technology as it evolves.
  • Be willing to live in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire the Bank’s Headquarters, and any other country in Africa where the Bank may require your services.

Paradigm Initiative: 2020 Digital Rights and Inclusion Media Fellowship

The application process is now open for the third edition of the Paradigm Initiative Digital Rights and Inclusion Media Fellowship.

The Paradigm Initiative Digital Rights and Digital Inclusion Media Fellowship 2020 seeks to embed media professionals within the daily work of Paradigm Initiative in the fields of digital rights and digital inclusion in Africa. Starting from April 2020, Media Fellows will work out of our offices in Nigeria (Lagos, Aba, Abuja and Kano), and will get a chance to work with our teams in Yaoundé (Cameroon), Lusaka (Zambia), Democratic Republic of Congo, and Accra (Ghana).  Applications are open to Journalists working in Africa.

The fellowship seeks to expose media professionals to an underreported field of work in national/regional development and hopes to increase reporting on digital rights and inclusion in Africa. Selected media professionals must be available to travel to Nigeria for two weeks (2) in April and May 2020 and also available for  four (4) months virtual collaboration (April 2020 to August 2020).

Paradigm Initiative’s Digital Rights and Inclusion Media Fellowship is a 5-month program designed to immerse outstanding mid-career journalists in digital rights and digital inclusion advocacy – and intervention efforts – in Africa. Selected journalists will work with Paradigm Initiative on various projects and contribute to improving public understanding of digital rights and inclusion issues in Africa.

Components of the fellowship

  • Fully-funded trip to attend the Digital Rights and Inclusion Forum (DRIF) in Abuja, Nigeria, in April 2020.
  • Digital Rights/Inclusion training at the Paradigm Initiative headquarters in Lagos (Nigeria), in addition to communication with team members from other offices in Africa.
  • Fully-funded 2-week residency program to visit Paradigm Initiative offices in Nigeria (Abuja, Lagos, Kano, Aba).
  • 4-month virtual training and collaboration with Paradigm Initiative and partners.
  • Fellowship may also include fully-funded local and international travels to participate in and cover relevant events related to Digital Rights and Inclusion.
  • Interaction with leading stakeholders in digital rights advocacy.
  • Paradigm Initiative will provide fellows with a monthly stipend, and a one-time research grant, during the fellowship period.

Expectations

  • Fellows will be expected to participate in all scheduled activities.
  • Fellows will be expected to publish, in their affiliated media (Print, TV, Radio, Online), at least 15 reports on digital rights and inclusion issues during the fellowship period. Fellows will retain full editorial direction on the stories.
  • Fellows will be expected to continue to provide coverage to digital rights and inclusion issues after their fellowship.

Requirements

  • The Fellowship is open to journalists affiliated with mainstream print and online newspapers in Africa.
  • Interested candidates must demonstrate previous coverage of human rights and/or tech issues and interest in advocacy journalism.
  • Interested candidates must not have spent more than ten years in journalism. We are most interested in outstanding, early career journalists.

Buoyed by a mission to redefine customer experience and be the provider of choice wherever energy is consumed, the Ikeja Electric (IE), Nigeria’s largest power distribution network, came into existence on November 1st, 2013 following the handover of the defunct Power Holding Company Of Nigeria (PHCN) to NEDC/ KEPCO Consortium under the privatization scheme of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

IE is currently accepting applications for 2020 Young Engineers Programme.

Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected to work within the power distribution sector with experienced engineers, developing skills and experience in order to become a competent and effective professional Engineer within the Power Sector and provided with challenging job opportunities

Minimum qualifications

  • Preferably fresh from the university but certainly with not more than 2 years’ experience, who are highly intelligent, hardworking, having the ability to apply common sense in analyzing and resolving problems and who value integrity more than wealth.
  • Minimum B.Sc. or, preferably, M.Sc. Degree in Engineering, in one of the following disciplines Electrical Engineering and Electronics Engineering from reputable Universities with a minimum of 2nd class upper
  • Must have completed NYSC
  • Maximum age of 26 years as of December 2019
