ARCHIPELAGO: 2nd Call for Proposals is now open!

ARCHIPELAGO is a 4-year European programme, funded by the European Union in the framework of the EU Emergency Trust Fund (EUTF) for Africa. Its main objectives are to improve the employability of young people through targeted technical and vocational education and training (TVET) measures. It also aims to support the growth of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

The programme supports partnership projects in 12 countries in the Sahel and Lake Chad region: Burkina FasoCameroonChadGambiaGhanaGuineaIvory CoastMaliMauritaniaNigerNigeria and Senegal.

Following the first call for proposals (which was launched in April 2019), a second call for proposals has been launched with the aim of supporting partnership projects to be implemented in the 12 target countries.

Each selected project will receive a grant of between €400,000 and €500,000. Each grant may cover 100% of the total eligible costs of the project.

In order to be considered eligible, each project proposal must be submitted by a consortium consisting of at least two partners – including an organisation based in one of the above-listed African countries and another organisation based in a Member State of the European Union. 

Applications may be submitted by business support organisations (such as chambers and business associations), training centres and/or other entities which specialize in activities related to vocational training and/or business development services.

The Roddenberry Prize 2020 for Organizations with innovative solutions

The $1M Roddenberry Prize is a call for big, bold solutions from anyone, anywhere that address the challenges of an unpredictable and fast-changing global landscape. Four game-changing and innovative solutions will each receive $250,000 for their work in one of the following fields: Education, Science, Environment, and Humanity. Applications from anyone — individuals, for-profits, teams, non-profits, and B-corps — are welcome.

Deadline: April 10, 2020.
Eligibility

The Roddenberry Foundation welcomes Prize applications from individuals, non-profits, social enterprises, and B-corps who meet all of the following:

  • Individuals who are 18 years of age or older
  • Organizations or institutions with a budget of $10mil or less
  • Organizations whose primary focus of their work is either Education, Science, Environment, or Humanity
  • Submit an application in English
  • Include completed responses to all required application questions
  • Agree to all legal terms and conditions of the Prize grant program
    Be able to legally receive grant funding
Prizes

Four awardees will receive $250,000 each. Awards will be announced in August 2020. The top organizations in each issue area that are not awarded a prize will be recognized publicly as Finalists.

Timeline and Applications
Prize Launch: March 4, 2020
Between March 4 and April 10, learn about the Prize, register account, review and apply.
 
Round One Deadline: April 10, 2020
Complete registration and submit application by 5:00 PM Pacific Time. Applications cannot be submitted after the deadline.
 
Round One review: April 13–May 8, 2020
The Roddenberry Foundation team reviews submissions to ensure compliance with Prize eligibility and rules. Advisors provide specialised expertise to reviewers, and Round One applications are evaluated using a scoring rubric.
 
Round Two opens: May 11, 2020
Select number of applications will be invited to submit application for Round Two of the Prize. Only those who are invited to Round Two will remain in consideration for the Prize. Invited applicants will have four weeks to submit their Round Two application.
 
Round Two deadline: June 5, 2020
Round Two applicants will have three weeks to submit their Round Two application. All Round Two applications are due by June 5, 2020, at 5:00 PM Pacific Time. Applications cannot be submitted after deadline and incomplete applications will not be considered.
 
Round Two Evaluation: June 8- July 13, 2020
The Roddenberry Foundation team a panel of advisors evaluates applications using the scoring criteria, with consultations from advisors. Top scoring applications from each category are selected for award.
 
Prize Announcement: August 2020
The 2020 Prize Awardees will be announced on The Roddenberry Foundation website, The Roddenberry Foundation social media, and via press release.

Peter Drucker Challenge Essay Contest 2020 for Students & Young Entrepreneurs

The Drucker Challenge is an international essay competition held annually by the Drucker Society Europe, in conjunction with the Drucker Forum. The Challenge explores a current topic in management – typically related to the theme of the Forum – in the context of Peter Drucker’s human-oriented management philosophy.

Requirements for Drucker Challenge Essay Contest:

General requirements

  • You must be 18-35 years old (inclusive of both ages)
  • You must have been selected no more than once (or not at all) among the top 10 since 2010

Essay category requirements
You can submit one essay to participate as either a student or a professional
(please mention your main occupation in the submission form)

Student category

  • You are a part-time or full-time student (bachelor, master, MBA, or PhD) or you are seeking your first opportunity after the completion of your last degree

Professional category

You are a

  • manager of people, projects, budgets, and/or processes
  • an entrepreneur or business owner
  • licensed professional
  • social volunteer or community leader

First Prizes:

  • A cash prize of 1.500 EUR  (to be handed over at Awards ceremony)
