The first time I heard this song, tear drops fell off my eyes simply because I can totally relate. I remember once having it all and then losing all. Came to Lagos with just a bag, dressed in a fine suit.
Remember meeting my elder brother that fine day in Eko Hotel with so much dreams and ambition.
This has to be one of the best song ever from any Nigerian artist. Why? Because so many people can relate. Tekno and Wizkid "finished work" with this track no doubt.
In case you have not heard it, I recommend you check it would for real. You might relate and have the song on repeat, like I did.
Why DJ Cuppy Should Quit Music As An Artist
If you are a Nigerian, you most likely already know who DJ Cuppy is. Ms. Otedola is a Business and Economics graduate who also has a Master’s Degree in Music Business from New York University, USA. She is a renowned Dj and the daughter of Nigerian Businessman, Mr. Femi Otedola.
Many Nigerians got to know Dj Cuppy when she started Djing in Nigeria. Personally, I believe she is a talented Dj and has done well to inspire many upcoming DJs in Africa, regardless of status or ethnic group. However, I strongly believe Dj. Cuppy will make a lot more impact as a music business mogul. That is, instead of just continuing to DJ, produce and perform as an artist, she should consider investing in the industry as a record label owner like the likes of Don Jazzy and Davido.
That is, Dj Cuppy can upgrade her music management and content production business, Red Velvet Music Group to a creative media & entertainment company.
She has the capacity to pull the capital needed to make this happen in a major way. I envision a huge warehouse-like building in Lagos. Partitioned to house a mega music studio, a dance studio, a film studio, and even a music museum. Do you see where this is going?
You were probably expecting me to bash her, right?. But no, this is not one of those – put the person down articles. Not at all. We are not about that life on steadygettingit.com. It’s all about empowering people over here, especially young Nigerians. Now let’s get back to our very own adorable Ms. Cuppy and why she should consider doing more than just singing or djing.
Posterity will smile on her for creating an avenue for a lot more talented individuals in Nigeria to attain limelight. She was able to pull the who is who in society together to raise over 5 billion Naira for her foundation recently. I have no doubt that she can make a record label and a lot more happen. Do you agree? Do you think she has the potential for success as a record label executive? Feel free to share your opinion in the comment section.
Mr P of Psquare – For My Head
If you have heard the song already, I would like to know what you think. I must commend Mr P for doing a quick one with this Single. It’s never easy keeping up with the business with all the personal and family business out in the open. With this comes fans taking sides on matters they tend not to know much about.
Holding it together to continue working on the music is a big deal. Much respect to the man. Yet, I do believe he can do a lot better. Both brothers have come a long way and do not have to impress or prove anything to anyone. They can both choose to retire right now and would have made a mark in the music industry.
This song ‘For My Head’ has a lot of what we have been hearing from musicians over and over again. There is nothing in this song that makes me want to listen to it more than one time. From I go die for you, to I go cry for you. Banana, plantain or orange peeling for you. Okay, ignore the sarcasm here – You get the point though, it’s all bants.
Mr P is a very good dancer and holds in own vocally, no doubt there. Even so, you need to get a fine song writer or a group of them. There is nothing wrong with working with songwriters. A lot of international stars work with a lot of songwriters to give us back to back hits.
It would be awesome to see Mr P making more music and not just music. Top notch music that is evergreen and grows on you every time you listen to it. What do you think though? Feel free to leave a comment.
