Zambia are leaving no stone unturned in their bid to qualify for the FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia as the expense of their only remaining stumbling block, Nigeria.
The Zambia FA are understood to be considerung holding a training camp in Europe ahead of their upcoming World Cup 2018 Qualifiers tie against Nigeria in Uyo on October 7.
The Chipolopolo gave themselves a strong chance of overhauling group leaders Nigeria after surprisingly beating Algeria 1-0 away in Algiers, and have set the plans in motion to grab the sole ticket in Group B.
Coach of the Zambian team Wedson Nyirenda revealed part of their plans for the game against Nigeria, who won the bragging rights as they defeated them in Ndola 1-2 in the reverse fixture, will be a camp in Europe.
“We have been talking to the Football Association of Zambia [FAZ] and they are also interested in camping the team outside the country and if that comes it will be a bonus to the players,” Nyirenda said upon arrival in Zambia from Algeria.
Speaking in similar vein, Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President, Andrew Kamanga said it will be wise for the players to train in Europe ahead of the October 7th game in Uyo, as most of them are based in Europe.
“As you know some of the players are already in Europe, they didn’t come with us they have already gone back and we may see it fit to camp the team abroad so that it is easier to prepare the team adequately,” Kamanga said.
Zambia needs to beat Nigeria in Uyo and also record a victory against Cameroon while hoping Nigeria on the other loses to Algeria in Algiers on Match Day 6 to grab the sole ticket in the much acclaimed Group of Death.
